Kanga’s

The Toddler Rooms – 2 to 3 Years

Kanga’s rooms are our toddler rooms, made up of two interconnecting spaces that allow children to move freely between activities and areas of play. These lively, welcoming rooms support children as they become more active, curious and independent. Children are encouraged to explore, build confidence, develop early language, enjoy messy play, spend time outdoors and begin learning how to play alongside others.

At this stage, children are starting to do more for themselves and discover what they can achieve. Through a balance of child-led play, structured activities and outdoor experiences, they are supported to develop confidence, physical skills and social awareness. Caring staff help each child navigate the transition from babyhood to toddlerhood with patience, encouragement and understanding. A dedicated key person takes time to understand each child’s interests, routines and development, helping them feel secure while providing personalised learning experiences.

A Room for Exploring

Toddlers learn by doing, and Kanga’s is designed to encourage curiosity from the moment children arrive.

Children have opportunities for messy play, water play, painting, building, climbing, outdoor learning, stories, songs and imaginative play. Every day offers opportunities to explore safely while building confidence and independence.

The toddler years are also full of big feelings. Children are learning to share, wait, take turns, manage frustration and cope with change. Staff support these moments calmly using simple language, reassurance and consistent routines. We help children feel safe enough to try new things, build friendships and grow in confidence at their own pace.

Learning & Development

Learning happens naturally through play, routines and everyday experiences.

Staff support early language by talking with children throughout the day, introducing new words, reading stories, singing songs and encouraging conversation.

Children are gently encouraged to become more independent by choosing activities, washing their hands, finding belongings, tidying away and having a go before asking for help.

Messy play with paint, water, sand, dough, foam, glue and natural materials develops creativity, language and fine motor skills. Outdoor adventures help children run, climb, balance, dig, splash and explore nature while building physical confidence and coordination.
