Roo’s Room is a large open-plan room. It provides a nurturing space with sensory play, messy activities, and a steady routine to support smooth transitions between home and nursery. The room is designed for babies, with soft carpeted areas, a messy play zone, and spaces for eating. A dedicated outdoor area allows babies to enjoy fresh air and sunshine. With a 1:3 adult-to-baby ratio, we ensure personalised care and close supervision.

Roo’s room is our calm and nurturing baby room, designed to give babies a gentle start to nursery life. This large open-plan space includes soft carpeted areas, sensory play, messy activities, eating spaces and a dedicated outdoor area for fresh air and sunshine.

Babies are cared for by warm and attentive staff who take time to understand their routines, needs and personalities. With a 1:3 adult-to-baby ratio, we provide personalised care, close supervision and plenty of reassurance while each baby settles into nursery life.

The room is designed to feel calm, cosy and familiar, with space for rest, cuddles, tummy time, gentle movement and safe exploration. We aim to help every baby feel secure enough to build confidence and curiosity at their own pace.

A Calm Start to Nursery Life

Babies need to feel safe before they can explore.

That is why we place so much importance on comfort, bonding and familiar routines. Staff spend time getting to know each baby and work closely with parents so care feels consistent between home and nursery.

Some babies need lots of cuddles and reassurance. Some are ready to explore as soon as they arrive. Others need time to settle into sleep and feeding routines. We follow each baby’s individual pace wherever possible.

Building strong bonds is at the heart of Roo’s. We learn what makes each baby smile, what helps them settle, how they like to be comforted and which routines feel familiar. Gentle settling-in sessions, familiar adults and regular communication help babies and parents feel confident from the very beginning.

Learning & Development

Learning in Roo’s happens through gentle everyday moments.

Babies learn through touch, sound, movement, eye contact, songs, stories, sensory play, tummy time and safe exploration. Staff follow each baby’s interests and routines, giving them time to look, reach, respond, move and discover at their own pace.

Throughout the day, we support early communication, physical development, curiosity and emotional security. The focus is never on rushing milestones but on giving babies the comfort, attention and encouragement they need to begin exploring the world around them.

A Typical Day

Arrival & Settling

Children are welcomed by familiar staff, who give them time to settle, explore, and feel comfortable before the day begins.

Bottles, Meals & Snacks

Meals, bottles and snacks follow each baby’s individual routine, with plenty of time for calm, unrushed care.

Sensory Play & Exploration

Babies enjoy sensory activities, tummy time, songs, stories and gentle exploration that support their early development.

Outdoor Time

Fresh air, movement and outdoor play help babies discover the world around them in a safe and stimulating environment.

Sleep & Rest

Sleep routines are followed to suit each baby’s needs, helping them feel settled, rested and ready to play.

Songs, Stories & Cuddles

Throughout the day, babies enjoy singing, stories, cuddles and one-to-one interactions that support language and emotional security.

Home Time & Parent Update

Before home time, we share updates on your baby’s day, including sleep, feeds, play and those special little moments.

What to Bring

Settling In

Settling-in sessions help your baby become familiar with the room, staff and routines. Some babies settle quickly while others need more time, and we always work at your child’s pace.

We have just completed a full 4 years of our daughter attending Hunny Pot where she thrived, was happy, had fun, learned all sorts, made friends and developed well in all areas. As a lockdown Mum I had a lot of concerns and anxiety about leaving my baby girl with anyone, as I hadn't needed too for 8 months. Yet the manager Vicky was empathetic, sympathetic and patient. She listened well to all my questions and was happy for me to have more than one visit, and for my husband to then have a visit also (we had to come separately due to social distancing). This care and support was welcomed and appreciated and really helped prove to me that the team care for not just the children but the parents experience too. Through my daughters time at Hunny Pot she had the best care and attention in the Roos, Kangas and Tiggers rooms. She bonded well with all the staff there. She sees them as friends and made lots of friends too with the children she got to play and learn with. She enjoyed nearly all the food, and especially the puddings. Her favourite experience was when they introduced a weekly Kixx football session with the fun Coach Alex. It was the highlight of her week and alongside the lovely climbing frame to play on outside, the chance to observe caterpillars growing and changing into butterflies, they even care for tadpoles to frogs one summer, and the odd walk trip to see local horses - all this and more has meant my daughter is the confident and clever lass she is today.

Myself and my wife have visited numerous nurseries locally and Honeypot immediately stood out, from the friendly and professional staff, the welcoming environment, the support they give the kids, the homemade and varied menu throughout the week and great management. My daughter started here in April and even though she sometimes struggles socially, she had no problems at all settling in, she loves it! There's so many different activities for her to do which is ideal as she gets bored easily and there is lots of room for her to run around at her leisure, in and outdoors.
