At the Hunny Pot Nursery, all meals are freshly prepared every day. Our own inhouse very experienced cook ensures that the meals are well balanced and nutritious, through the provision of a variety of tasty foods.
About our kitchen
Our kitchen is inspected by Environmental Health Officers, who are employed by Kirklees. The inspection outcome is a score based on a star rating from 1 to 5 with 5 being the highest. At The Hunny Pot, we have always achieved a score of 5.
We have successfully achieved the Gold 5 star award for the last ten years.
Our home-made meals contain no added sugar or salt.
Inspections take place every year.
Mealtimes
Mealtimes are also a time for a learning experience, ranging from using knives and forks to awareness of good table manners, and politeness.
Our practitioners will sit with the children and talk with them. They will teach good manners and show children how to feed themselves to become independent eaters. It is the perfect opportunity for the children to bond with their peer group as well as the practitioner.
Healthy Eating
England has one of the highest levels of childhood obesity. This is why at The Hunny Pot Nursery, we take healthy eating very seriously.
Eating habits are formed in early childhood and we help form those positive habits. Children are offered freshly cooked food which includes fresh fruit and vegetables daily. Children will have the opportunity to experience foods from different cultures throughout the year as part of their education.
At The Hunny Pot Nursery, we are part of the Kirklees Healthy Meals Initiative.
